IPhone iOS7 - how to reduce the bg from looking dark?

So I've just updated my iOS, and realized it makes your background wallpaper look a lot darker than what the original picture looks like. It didn't help editing the contrast/brightness of the picture, and even full-on white looks grayish! Plus unlike the previous iOS, though in the wallpaper settings it says "zoom in/out", it seems impossible to zoom out but only zoom in EVEN THOUGH there's definitely extra space on both sides (height x length).

Is there ANY way to fix this?

I tried looking for answers, but no one else even seems to have these problems.
Am I doing something wrong?

Thats just part of the new iOS interface. I have it too and I don't like it, I want to go back to iOS 6
