Iphone just suddenly went completely dead?

I was charging my Iphone 4s before and it was at 97%, and i have to go out so i discharged it and when i went out the door i thought i'll listen to some music, so i press the home button, the screen was still dead, so i thought i might have accidentally shut my phone off so i press the power button for like a min. Or more still nothing so i try to reset it and hold the home button for more than 30 secs. And still nothing. Anyone had the same problem or know what's going on with my phone cause this is the first time it happened and i only had this phone for like 10 months less than a year

I would try syncing it to iTunes via USB Cable and see if that starts up anything.

However, I searched around for an answer. I don't think this may work either but you can give it a try.

Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time…

Wait for the Apple logo to Appear…

Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds… ( But can take Longer… )

Release the Buttons…

This also worked for me, but any idea why it happened in the first place? Phone was charged (not on charger) and no apps were actively running (I'm sure some were running in the background).
