Iphone Keeps turning off and restarting?

I iphone 5 stays on for a minute or two after being turned on. I can still use everyapp but after a bit the screen crashes and restarts and I don't know what to do. I've rebooted the phone and reestarted it and left if off so I'm wondering if I should just replace the battery if hats what the problem is.

you may be lucky and they will acknowledge fault - can happen even when items are out of warranty

I keep trying to turn it on and eventually it will come up with bit saying it needs to be charged basically.sometimes the screen will go blue or come up with random colours and turn off. I have no insurance for it either. I ordered it online, it's a contract with 3 mobile.i'm not sure if warranty as run out.
