Iphone liquid contact indicator not red?
About two hours ago I dropped my phone into a sink full of water. I immediately turned it off, dried it and put it in a warm place to dry out.
I have also done some googling and I have been told that there's an indicator that will turn red if it comes into contact with water in the slot where I put my sim card. After opening the slot and having a good look it still appears to be silver/white. Is my phone safe?
I would put it in a bag of rice or a warm place for about a week, just to be safe. But its your choice. You're probably good though.
There are several such indicators, charging port, ear phone jack, and with the battery inside tbe phone. The Sim slot may or may not have one, depending on which generation your phone is. And if one LID is white, others in other spots may not be. Being white only tells you water did not touch that one. So check all visible ports to be double sure that the obvious ones are all white.
The indicators are on the INSIDE of your phone. You can bet that at least one of them is red.
BTW, the old rice trick only absorbs water that's on the outside of your phone, not on the inside where the damage occurs. Put your phone in your kitchen oven on very low heat for a number of hours to evaporate the water on the inside.
