Iphone says I don't have enough room to download ios6?
My iphone is telling me I need atleast 2.4 GB of available storage. I checked my usage, & it says I've used about 5.5 GB of storage & there's 963 MB avaliable (ios6 takes up 597 MB).So is there something I'm missing here?
You answered your own question, you only have 963 MB and you need more than twice that to load it on your phone. You will need to delete apps/music/video to get the 2.4 gb available to update your phone.

Backup and wipe the phone. You have the restore option in itunes. But that will put the device back to factory settings and you will lose EVERYTHING. Which is why it is imperitive you create a manual backup in ITUNES. If you do it in icloud their is a good chance you will struggle to get it back.
I recommend that you manually create a backup in itunes. Now manual backups in itunes will not retain music or apps. So those will have to be put back in either via itunes store or itunes player if the music is on your computer.
