IPhone text messages not working?

I was able to text this person earlier today with no problems. The text boxes were blue, meaning we were using imessage. Now, suddenly my texts to this person are in green, and it then said under the text box "sent as text message", as opposed to "delivered" when it was blue.

Now, my texts to this person are still green, but it will not even say "sent as text message". Nothing comes up at all.

Texting and calling everyone else in my contacts works fine, as does my cellular data with internet browsing etc. Its only this number I'm having this problem with. I'm not sure if calling this number works because I have not tried it.

I have checked, and the SMS, MMS, and immessege options are al turned on in settings. I have tried restarting the phone, re-installing the sim card and even calling at&t tech support.

Any ideas?

BTW- I have a 4S, and I'm not sure what version this person has, but I know its an iPhone.

  • Why is my iPhone5 sending some messages as iMessage and others as Text Messages? I understand that messages are sent as Text Messages when there's no signal or poor Wi-Fi connection. However, I'm successfully texting some people using iMessage but others (still iPhone users) as Text messages. The other person will send iMessages and then my responses will be sent as green Text Messages.
  • When I receive text messages with emojis from an iPhone, why do the messages only appear partially? My phone is a "Verizon Samsung Intensity II" slide phone. (Also it's blue but that doesn't matter.) Also, if I'm included in an iPhone group chat (spoiled rich friends, but not snobby…), I get each posted message as a separate message, so I'll end up randomly with 67 unread messages clogging up my inbox.
  • Text messages not working IOS7? I updated my iphone 4 yesterday to the new IOS7. At first everything was fine but after a few hours and still today the messages will not work. It just stays a blank white screen and eventually goes back the home page. Email and everything else works. Tried resetting as well as a hard reset. Any ideas?
  • My iPhone 4 is not allowing me to send text messages? I'm able to send and receive txt messages perfectly within USA I have AT&T as my wireless carrier. Once I cross the border to mexico II am able to receive messages but I can't reply because it won't send the message. The first time I went down to Mexico I was able to send some messages but then after some messages it stopped sending messages. This last time I went it never allowed me to send messages but I was able to receive messages. How can I send messages what can I do
