IPhone white screen of death?
I was in the middle of using an old version of redsn0w to unlock my old iPhone 2g running iOS 3.1.3 when it froze (on the phone) in the middle of the unlock process… Me in my infinite wisdom said ok I'll just reboot it and start over… After a few minutes of chilling on the apple logo I realized something was wrong and quickly put it into DFU mode and plugged it into iTunes to restore it. All was well and iTunes recognized the phone and was ready to restore it until the "white screen of death" appeared as iTunes was "preparing iPhone for restore"… I've tried everything I can think of but nothing works, I can't restore the phone in iTunes and it won't boot on its own. (trying to tethered boot or restore in a new version of redsn0w doesn't work either because the new version of redsn0w doesn't recognize that the iPhone is in DFU mode)
Contact Apple Support.
You now own what is commonly known as a "brick" or "paperweight." Apple support won't help you since you were trying to hack the phone.
Yeah I know its bricked but from what I'm reading on a varying case basis most bricked iPhones can be fixed with different solutions but I can't find anyone who has experienced this exact situation.
Just get off the phone.
