Iphone won't charge on lower voltage supplies?

Iphone 6 won't charge on lower voltage supplies. Works fine plugged into wall but won't charge in car and won't even show up on laptop when plugged in. I'm using an official apple lead

It's not lower voltage. They all charge using a 5VDC input. The issue is the current.

  • Where to buy cabachon decoden supplies? I live in California, btw. I want to make my own iPhone 5 phone case, and I want to buy tiny pastry decorations. What store can you buy cabochon decoden decorations?
  • Where can i buy cheap supplies for bling/decoden iphone cases? I'm looking to start making these iphone cases, but there doesn;t seem to be a lot of online help as to were to buy the supplies. CHEAP wholesale supplies. As in the actual plastic iphone 4/4S cases, (coloured or clear), pearls and rhinestones (in packs of 1000+), charm pieces, glitter etc. Also preferably within the UK. Or at least cheap postage to the UK.
  • Voltage regulator VS voltage divider? I want to make a few of those altoids oh sh*t USB chargers. Instead of using the 5V regulators like everyone else does, can't I just create a voltage divider with two resistors? Why though? As long as my Iphone is seeing 5V it shouldn't matter, no? Or is the regulator really some kind of current regular aging device too? Dun think so. And what are the odds of me destroying my cell phone? You think there's circuitry protection of I screw up the polarity?
  • Is there a maximum voltage limit for iPhones? I'm creating a charger for iPhones and Samsung/Android phones. I was wondering if these devices had resistors, so that I can't blow peoples phones.
