IPhones, SIM cards, microSIM, contract, and go phones?
Okay, this might get confusing so stay with me lol.
I have a prepaid android (at&t) and got a new android. We're giving the old android the my brother in law (he has a contract through at&t). He is giving me his iPhone 4s. I got a new regular AND microsim and need to know how to activate them both without locking them to the phone. Any ideas? Please help!
Added (1). How do I activate them? Online or do I just call?
You can activate them both and they won't be locked to either phone. SIMS can be moved around between phones without any problem.
From what I know, sim cards do not lock to any phone. The phone itself can be locked but the sim card is what allows you to communicate with your carrier. If you insert your old sim card into the iPhone 4s, you should get service (if they both work together - this is possible w/ contract AT&T to contract AT&T - I don't know if this is possible w/ prepaid) If this does not work, you need to unlock the iphone 4s. There are several ways to unlock it including jailbreaking, or paying some website to get you an unlock code, or finding someone on ebay. Just google 'unlock iphone 4s'.
For your brother, he needs to do the same with the old prepaid android phone. It needs to be unlocked to be used in another carrier's network. (This does not apply to Verizon phones b/c that uses CDMA technology instead of GSM)
- Will T-Mobile give me a microsim card? I currently have a cheap phone that has no data plan on it and uses standard sim card. I ordered a smartphone which uses a microsim card like the one in the iphone 4/4s. Will Tmobile give me a new microsim card without me having to add a data plan to my contract. It doesn't matter to me if i have to pay a little bit for the sim i just do not want to buy a data plan. My current data free plan is perfect
- Will I get a new MicroSim with my iPhone upgrade? Hi, I've recently upgraded my iPhone 4 to an iPhone 4S, so don't technically need a new sim card. However, I managed to lose the MicroSim (don't ask! ) that belonged in the iPhone 4, so was just wondering if Orange will send a new microSim out with the new phone anyway even if I hadn't requested a new one. Would like to find out to save me a call and an hour on hold if I have to phone Orange Customer services! Any help appreciated!
- What happens if I trade iPhones 5 for another iphone 5 and keep our SIM cards? Does all my stuff move to the other iphone or does it stay with my old phone? Do apps, email, messages and etc move to the other phone or stay in the old one
- Using a microsim adapter for iphone 3GS? My microsim will not go into the iphone 3gs. I have looked online for a microsim adpater and there have been mixed reviews. Please can anyone shed light on this?
