Is 40mbps fast enough to surf the web?

It will be both me and my mom using the internet. My mom uses a laptop and all she does is surf the web and watch netflix.
I use my iphone and all i do is surf the web and watch youtube and netflix. None of us download movies or anything
Will 40mbps be fast enough to give both of us enough internet? Will it run out quickly.

No its not enough by any means to run netflix and do other things get like 75-100 mbs

2 mbps needed to watch netflix in HD. You have tons left over to spare.

Yes.

None of you are downloading videos directly to your computer, but it does not mean no-one is downloading videos. Both Youtube and Netflix will use your bandwith to download videos before being shown on the internet browser. As for your bandwith speed of 40mbps, it is okay provided your equipment is capable of detecting those speeds.

Here are 2 things you need to check for better Wi-Fi/lan performance.

Modem Router. This needs to be able to detect and provide those speeds with little to no lag from multiple devices connected and downloading simultaneously.

Smartphones and Computers. Both of these work better when their network protocols are switched over to the latest one your modem router can detect. For example, 802.11AC or to a near older one that both the phone and computer can detect.
