Or just better in a very apparent way? If it's a real improvement, it'll be worth dishing out $200 for the iPhone 5S.

Yes… Very much likely. I know an friend and she has 4g and it is very much faster than 3g. It really is the fastest that i know. So if your planning on getting 4g and is not sure, i would recommend you without any complaints. So please get it.i'm doing more than just asking, i'm serious.

The speeds actually depend more on the signal reception than on the protocol being used, so 3G in an area with strong signal reception will be faster than 4G in an area with poor or noisy reception. All else being equal, however, the 4G will be faster than the 3G.

The iPhone 5 supports 4G and you can probably find one brand new without too much trouble, depending on where you shop.

There are 3 kinds of service, 3g, 4g, and LTE. The 5s comes with LTE. Now depending on which service you get, (Excluding sprint because they practically don't have LTE) 3g will get you probably 5megabits per second download speed. LTE will on average get you between 30-50 megabits per second. Make of that what you will, but in answer to your quesiton… YES YES YES. LTE is like magic. It is instantaneous practically. VERY noticeable difference. And very VERY worth it. (If you are getting a carrier with LTE… AKA NOT SPRINT!)
