Is an iMac worth it?
Is it worth it to buy an Apple - 27" iMac® with Retina 5K display - Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - 1TB Fusion Drive if I already have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)? I'm an engineering student and need to run auto-CAD and other engineering programs. I also like to play games on my computer. My main focus is school and I do not think that my macbook pro will be enough. I know that I could get a cheap PC and it will run CAD and everything just fine but I enjoy the ability to transfer files and the compatibility as I also have an iPhone. So please do not give me any suggestions for PC's. So in short, if I have a MacBook Pro should I splurge and get an iMac or just try to get by with my laptop? Thank you!
Added (1). I do not care for anything better than my macBook pro for gaming. I only play Cities Skylines and it works well enough on my MacBook.
If you plan on gaming with your computer, Mac computers are not good choices. They're not meant for that. They can game, but the performance will be pretty terrible.
I personally wouldn't get any Mac. But if I were you, I'd get the SSD option instead of the Fusion Drive. The SSD will be infinitely many times faster than the HDD. When I was at the Apple store a few months ago, I used one of their iMacs with an HDD. It was incredibly slow to launch apps.
Will your other programs run on Mac OS?
Can you get the program and see how well it runs before classes start?
How does your laptop's CPU compare with the suggested CPU from the program requirements?
Such as these:

It seems the 2018 version of AutoCAD isn't available for Mac OS, though I'm not sure why that is… If it just hasn't come out yet or they aren't doing it.
Personally I'd dry out your laptop first and upgrade if it's not working. AutoCAD is a single threaded program which means it'll run better on a processor with faster cores rather than one with more cores.
- Why won't my iPhone sync to my iMac? I'm trying to sync my iPhone 4 to my iMac using iTunes but every time I plug it in and click sync a pop-up window says "The iPhone could not be synced because the sync session failed to start." I made sure the cable was plugged in right and everything looked normal, in the settings, summary, etc. But it still won't sync. It's not syncing wirelessly anymore either. If anyone knows the solution to this, that would be great.
- Who's getting the new iMac or Mac Book Pro? I don't know if I should get one! I have a Windows laptop but like I don't need a Mac I just want one because I have an iPhone and decide to have everything Apple. Give me an opinion people!
