Is having Wi-Fi cheaper than routers for a desktop?
I was sitting here thinking to myself that while I game a lot, a laptop would be a much cheaper way rather than having five desktops in the house. Like you could take away Internet on your iPhone due to the fact of having Wi-Fi, then you could get my dad an iPad like he wants, and I could have a laptop; and it'd just be paying for that one Wi-Fi source rather than all the plugs in the wall for multiple plug ins.Am I right or am I wrong? I'm not that skilled in the Wi-Fi department, meh.
Personally, I'm a big fan of the Wi-Fi. You can buy Wi-Fi routers relatively cheap, and sometimes even get one at a reasonable cost from your ISP (mine came with my service package for no extra cost).In addition, you can buy a USB dongle that will plug into your desktop or buy a wireless modem, which will allow you to enjoy the benefits of a wireless connection with the gaming power of your desktop. I'd say it's a worthwhile investment.
- Would this be cheaper than an iphone plan? I have an iPhone 5 and I don't have a sim or plan with it. Could I just carry a mobile hotspot with me instead of getting a $100/month plan? If so, what carrier has the cheapest?
- Will it be cheaper to pick up instead of having an upgrade shipped to you on Sprint? I'm eligable for an upgrade, I'm looking towards a new iPhone 4S on Sprint for $100 but when it comes to taxes it brings it up $55 more. And that goes by zip code. So is it cheaper if I can put an in store pick up? Will it be 100$ like it says if we picked it up at the store?
