Is it bad bad idea idea to buy used Iphone?
Even the Iphone is very clean, no scars, no breaks.
Used Iphone are much cheaper than new Iphone, but in the wrong time it could be more expensive.
electronics can last very long time, but the problem is battery. Battery have short life span. It's used so it will have very short life span. I would need to buy a new battery for Iphone. Batteries for Iphones are expensive. Would it be cheaper to buy new Iphones than used Iphone in the long term?
Not just Iphone, any electronics that use batteries.
I buy used electronics all the time with limited problems
perhaps it depends on your capacity to suss out an item before you hand over your cash
it is of course worth noting there will always be issues
as you note, battery will not be as good as new.so, charge it daily instead of every second day
it may be that the home button isn't functioning properly.so, use the virtual home button or factor in a $50 repair to have it fixed

so long as you go into it with eyes open used gear is always good for people on a budget
It's a relative question. Some people would say it's cheaper to buy new iPhones than to buy used ones. Personally I like to buy new ones to avoid the hassle of dealing with used phones/electronics (they might come with issues and no warranty).
If you're asking in terms of longevity, it would be cheaper to buy a used iPhone depending on how old the used iPhone is and the price. All the iPhones that I've passed on to others including my family members are all working as expected even after 4 years.
Batteries do degrade in shelf life over time. But it hasn't degraded to an unusable extent on iPhones from my experience.
