It's the same price unless those companies subsidize your phone. I don't think Verizon and AT&T does it anymore.

You can pre order it from your phone company today. Generally the only benefit will be that you can spread the cost over more than 24 payments and the credit requirements will be less since you already have billing\credit setup with the phone company.
