Is it just me or does the iPhone sometimes click whatever you're about to touch?

Sometimes my iPhone responds to whatever I'm about to touch. Like my finger would be about 2 millimeters away from the screen but it'll respond to it as a touch. I think it's really weird. It's almost like my phone knows what I'll touch right before I actually touch it.

Yes happened to me before. I think it can tell when it's you so its a little more lenient

That's the way most smartphone touch screens work. The capacitive touch screen technology senses your finger a close distance away which is how it's able to work through screen protectors and even the screen's glass. A lot of people don't realize that the touch sensors are located below the glass not on top of it. Your finger basically creates an electrical disturbance just a few millimeters away from the screen that the phone is picking up on.

That is normal and it is due to the way the touch screen works.

Never heard of that happening, nor has it happened with any of the iPhones I've owned.
