Is it okay if I leave my iPhone 4S charging for awhile?
I'm going to be out of town for 15 days and would like to leave my phone at home plugged into the wall and charging. If I were to do this would it harm my phone? What effects would occur to my phone if I did this?
No. You should never leave any devices plugged in for too long. Any more than a few hours is too much. It harms the battery if you constantly charge your phone like that and will shorten it's battery life.

You can't overcharge an iPhone battery so it should be fine if you leave it plugged in.

For 15 days, your iphone would probably over charge, which would make it loose battery once it reaches a certain amount. It could also get hot from the electricity and over heat.
Over all I definitely would not leave it plugged in.

The battery only charges until it is full, it's a great system. The device then uses just a trickle of energy from the connected power supply, but the energy trickles through the battery which ensures the battery is 100% charged when you pull it off.

Yeah you can, once the battery is charged to 100% it discontinues charging and the iPhones power supply gets redirected only to the charger, whilst the battery just does nothing. The problem with doing this is that a storm might come and fry the iPhone if your unlucky.
