Is it possible to buy internet without having to buy cable or a voice line?

We're paying about $90 a month for our internet and house phone. We don't use our house phone anymore so my dad called AT&T but they said we had to have it in order to get the internet. Is this really necessary?
We have three iPhones and three laptops using Wi-Fi. We're paying $210 a month for five phones with limited data.

I was looking at AT&T and it says they charge $35 for the internet we have now but we're paying more. Is it just $35 or will they make you buy cable or a voice line also?

You do need to have a telephone wire to get the Internet but the actually telephone service isn't necessary. My parents have a "dry line" installed. It allows Internet access only. So either they don't know you can get Internet with telephone service or they're lying.

Tell them you are going to switch. When ever you deal with AT&T always bypass the initial representative and ask to speak to a supervisor in the customer retention department
You only need a phone line if your internet comes through a phone line. Ask if they have cable.
I live in Canada. I use a company called Teksavvy. $32.95/month 10Mbps 150 GB, unlimited at night.
It's a cable connection.
Also I use Magic Jack app on an old android phone to get home phone service free
Wi-Fi companies tell their employes to try to get you to pay the maximum. Fight tooth and nail and you will get your rates. Tell them "my way or no way"
I have a $75 cell phone plan that I pay $35/month. Over the years my phone company (Rogers) messed up my services 3 times. I spoke to a head supervisor, told them they cost me thousands of dollars in lost contracts because I'm a housing contractor. I asked the supervisor if I was renovating their house and made a big mistake if I should be responsible to pay for it out of my own pocket. Each time they said yes and each time I said I expected them to do the same in reverse and to give me a free extra feature for life.
.
plus I use Magic Jack on my phone and use Wi-Fi for talking North American long distance.
Some companies have phone sharing packages for multi phones.
Phone and internet companies act tough until you tell them you are going to quit.
I also save $$ by watching all my TV through Wi-Fi. You can watch all the networks for free by using a HDMI cable or wireless devices (depends where you live).
So for $36.71/month I have Wi-Fi, TV & home phone

Stand up for your rights, don't let the big guys push you around.
Remember, tooth and nail

Asked to speak to a supervisor.
When one customer service representative can't help you ask to speak to a supervisor. I usually will ask is there any way that you can make this happen if they say no then I say give me somebody that can.
