Is it possible to re-use an iPhone?

I have a Samsung Focus 2 (a windows phone) and I'm disappointed in how few things this phone can do and am interested in getting an iPhone. I have been told that a micro SD card can't be inserted into an iPhone. My dad has an iPhone 4, and it is just about time for his upgrade, so i was wondering if I would be able to use that as my phone without having to by a brand new iPhone. Is there a way to do this? Under settings (on an iPhone), it says "mobile number" and the person's mobile number is displayed. By clicking on where the number is, it is possible to type in something else. If I enter my phone number into it, will I be receiving calls and texts from my cell phone number, or from my dad's?

There's good news! Yes you can, if you are on the same carrier (which I'm assuming you are). All you will need to do is take the SIM card out of your phone and put it in the iPhone. If you need help doing this, AT&T will most likely help you when they are upgrading your dad. Also, if you have trouble accessing data or making calls afterwards, simply call AT&T and they will update your phone information.

  • Still possible to use att iPhone 3GS on straight talk? I have an AT&T iPhone 3GS with no SIM card. I have looked online and it seems straight talk is no longer offering AT&T SIM cards, only tmobile ( i really don't want to use tmobile towers!) My question is basically how do I get a SIM card for my phone that will allow me to use AT&T towers? Please be as specific as possible a link / how-to won't hurt my feelings!
  • Possible to use unlocked AT&T iPhone 5 on Verizon? I was gifted a new AT&T iPhone 5, but am on a Verizon Wireless plan. Before I go through the trouble of unlocking it, I was wondering if it is possible to use an unlocked AT&T iPhone 5 on Verizon? I tried to do some google research, but couldnt find anything answering my question. Any info is much appreciated.
  • Possible to flash a sprint iphone 4s to metro pcs or use it on straighttalk? Wondering if there's any way to flash a sprint iphone 4s to metro pcs? I hear they are both cdma networks. Any info if it works with all things like texting, calling, and data? What about using it on straight talk? Can you just buy that mini sim card and pop it in? I've seen the slot on the sprint iphone 4s. Can anyone give me info on both services? Much appreciated.
  • Possible to do AT&T prepaid plan without GoPhone (want to use my own iPhone 4)? I'm currently on T-Mobile and you know how it is with iPhone… Only 2G and no 3G data. I'm done with my contract and need to use the phone for 5 more months so I don't want to sign up a 2 year contract. I'm going to restore my phone back to factory state and want to sign up for AT&T prepaid plan but is it possible to do it w/o buying the GoPhone?
