Is it worth having an iPhone 5 and iPod 5th Gen?

Next month I'm planning on getting myself an iPhone 5 and some sort of an iPod (mainly for travelling, listening to music etc).

I'm liking the look of the newest iPods 5th gen, but I'm not sure if there's too much point in having both iPhone 5 and iPod 5th gen…

But the thing is that I would need an iPod to watch movies, play games, listen to music while I'm travelling long periods of time (since I don't really wanna be doing those things on my iPhone, especially on a plane, I do know that I can still do all those things on my phone but I'm a 'paranoid flyer' and I prefer to have a separate device for those kind of things, even tho everyone else on the plane is using their phones haha…

Is there someone of there who's got an iPod and an iPhone and thinks its fine to have both of these devices together even tho they're so similar? Opinions please.

It's not really worth it no, an Iphone is basically and Ipod touch expect you can call and text, they are pretty much Identical otherwise.

If you buy an iPhone5 you don't need to buy an iPod. It has an integrated iPod for listening to music, watching videos, movies, etc. With a bigger screen you will enjoy playing games more than ever.
So what are you waiting for? Buy yourself an iPhone5, you will simply love it.

I've used my iphone 4s on some plane flights for music and whatnot many times. Just remember to put it into airplane mode in the settings app. That cuts down on the amount of power its using up substantially, since airplane mode keeps it from constantly receiving data and constantly searching for Wi-Fi hotspots. Also turning down the brightness saves a lot of power. But i know where you're coming from when you say you'd rather have a separate device for entertainment purposes on the plane. Because out of all the times i've taken a plane flight, the last thing anyone wants to happen is have there phone die and run out of power because they were playing games. On flights i bring my iphone for music, and my old ipad for everything else. It works like a champ and the battery life is amazing. But if you're not a fan of the ipad, then id say there's nothing wrong with having both an iphone 5 and ipod 5th generation.id just hope you travel enough to the point where you'd put both to some good use.
