Is jailbreaking an iPhone safe? - 1
So I kind of want to jailbreak my iPhone 5s. But I'm worried that if my phone messes up that I would take it to an apple store and they'll say "oh sorry you modified your phone by jailbreaking so we can't help you".
Is jailbreaking an iPhone 5s safe? And what are its cons?
Well you're right for assuming that. Jailbreaking your iPhone can have major consequences. I know this for a fact - if Apple finds out that your phone is Jailbroken, they will immediately cancel your warranty. In terms of safety, it's fairly safe. As long as something doesn't go wrong and you take it straight to the Apple Store or your carrier, you should be ok. If something DOES go wrong while it's Jailbroken, the only way to get any type of helpful service OR fix the problem yourself is to reset the phone to factory conditions. If you haven't backed up your device, then you will lose all the apps and music and photos you had on there but as long as you routinely back up the iPhone to iTunes, you should be ok.
Yes, it can void your warranty, so if you incorrectly jailbreak, in theory you will not be allowed exchanges. But hold on, jailbreaking is practically impossible to brick your phone (completely unusable.) I have heard of some people that have restored their phones before taking it to the apple store. So, jailbreaking is very safe, just don't do anything stupid in the process.
Jailbreaking is completely safe, nearly impossible to break or "brick" your phone. As far as a warranty, it is easily reversable and Apple will still help you, I have done this before.
