Is repairing an iphone yourself a good idea?

I have an old iPhone 4s that I'm using now cost me $100 used on amazon. I accidentally dropped it in a bowl of ramen noodles yesterday. USB port has trouble reading and no sound but everything else works. Should I buy $20 worth of replacement parts and replace 30 pin connector and speaker or spend $120 to get it repaired at phone 911 shop? And no there's no insurance on phone and I don't have warranty.

Bruh, just get the iphone 6 with AT&T next. You pay like 30$ a month that's it

I seriously doubt that you can repair it yourself. Unlike most electronic devices that can be properly dried out if immersed in a liquid, I-Phones are ingeniously and purposely designed to fail permanently if immersed.

Ramen? Well… That's a new one.

$20 attempt first is worth trying. If it doesn't work, you're only out $20. If it DOES work, well…

  • What do you do with a good iPhone app idea but no money? I thought of a brilliant iPhone app idea. This idea is potentially worth millions (Of course it would be a big project to get started). The problem is that I have no money to hire programmers, and I definitely can't make it by myself. Any advice?
  • Is there any in repairing your iphone a 3rd time? So I've smashed my phone 3 times now, twice to the point it was unresponsive which is what happened the other night. I've had it repaired when its been like that before and it seemed to work fine in general. However was wondering if there's been so much damage now there's no point in wasting £60 to repair the screen?
  • Is it worth repairing my IPhone 4S myself? I recently dropped my Iphone 4S on pavement, after hitting the pavement screen first, it continued to slide down the pavement another 6-12 inches. My whole bottom right hand corner of my screen is cracked. I was wondering if it's worth buying a kit to repair it myself or turn it into a store such as CPR, BestBuy or Radioshack to get it repaired. If you have experience or any suggestions it would help me greatly if you answered.
  • Is it worth it Buying a iphone from ebay that doesn't work then repairing it? If I buy a Iphone 4s that's broken like =Screen, needs a battery, or something except water damage. Is it worth it and is it cheaper than buying a new one. Oh and I will be buying this stuff and things I need to repair it from ebay and ill repair it myself.
