Is the iPhone 4 still worth buying? - 1

I don't have the money to buy a new iPhone, and I can get an iPhone 4 (not 4s) from someone I know for 50$. Is it worth it? I heard that with the new iOS7.1 it might not be worth it because the system is so new. Is this true? I need it to function as a phone of course, but also to play music, possibly surf the internet, and have a decent amount of apps that I know I would use a lot. Opinions? Or should I search somewhere else for a newer version at a later date?

If it was the 4S I would but because its just the 4 I wouldn't. I used to have the 4 and when I downloaded IOS7 it slowed it down so much. It drove me crazy because it would take ages to load built in apps like weather, photos and music. Although I would buy it if it had the later IOS version downloaded on it. So yeah, id wait and get a newer version because trust me it would be worth it: )

IPhone 4 is still a fully useable and supported phone, it's what I still use.

But I've refused to install iOS7 on mine as the change is irreversible and definitely slows down the phone a lot. It also offers no benefit other than compatibility with Apple Keychain (Apple's iOS device password manager).

$50 is very cheap though, so try before you buy (make sure that the battery holds a charge for long enough) and if you find that text entry and social networking apps run fast enough for you then it may be worthwhile.

Still a pretty capable phone, but if you care about running the latest iOS the 4 would not be able to do that once iOS 8 is introduced in a month's time. I'd say a safer bet, if at all possible, would be an iPhone 4s.
