Is the turbo tax tax caster app accurate?
I downloaded the turbo tax, tax caster app for my iPhone. I earned 15k this year, and I'm claiming one child this year (I didn't claim a child last year). When I plugged in my info and hit calculate, it told me my refund would be 7k. Could this be accurate? I've heard of a earned income credit but this seems like a lot more than I expected. Is this app accurate?

Are you sure that you did use the CORRECT numbers for the withheld FIT amount ONLY and all of the other information is correct for that purpose for the 2013 tax year.
W-2 form Box 2 $$$$ FIT amount withheld for each pay period during the 2013 tax year these numbers will have a lot to do with your possible REFUND amount during the 2014 tax filing season for that purpose OK.
We sure would not know if the amount and numbers would be correct for this purpose and time in your life BUT you are the taxpayer that would know and have all of the required numbers and information to use for this purpose and time in your life at this time.

Is this $15K wages or self employment? The latter will require you pay your own self employment tax in addtion to income tax
and you do have a child tax credit that reduces your actual income tax liability
and yes this is earned income and eligible for EIC credit
since head of household with one child $16750 is not taxable, none of your $15K is taxable for income tax
the child tax credit not previously absorbed is now an additional child credit and part of the refund
It's not accurate until it has 100% accurate info.
