Is There ANY disagvantages of buying an factory unlocked iPhone 5?

I Was Looking At The Apple Website And The iPhones Are The Same Price as The Network Unlocked iPhones. Is There A Catch. I Live In Ireland

No i don't thing so.

No disadvantages. As far as the prices you are seeing, the locked ones are much cheaper than the unlocked one, part of trying to get you to buy one. Apple's site only states the unlocked ones (in International markets anyway)

No not at all. It is permanent (unlike a jailbreak unlock), updates do not affect a factory unlocked iPhone. I don't see any disadvantages to that.

  • Will the factory unlocked iphone 4 work with any carriers? I want to take this phone to a different country. If i get a sim card there, will the iphone 4 still work if it has been factory unlocked?
  • Will an unlocked iphone 4S work for tmobile if it isn't factory unlocked? I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.
  • Unlocked vs factory unlocked iphone? So I'm thinking about getting an iPhone but I wanted to know if I could take an unlocked iPhone to the Verizon store an them set it up for me? I have no clue what the difference between factory unlocked, unlocked, and locked iPhones are
  • Is unlocking an AT&T IPhone 5 cheaper the buying a factory unlocked iPhone 5? Well first of all I want to know of I went to the apple store and bought an iPhone 5 for At&T then went on to unlock it for my tmobile service would I be saving money NOT buying a regular factory unlocked iPhone 5 or is my plan useless
