Is there any point in upgrading from a iPhone 5 to an iPhone 5C?

I currently have an iPhone 5 which is a little beat up, I like the look of the iPhone 5C (especially the blue one) and was wondering if there's any point in upgrading to it?

If you think you need a new phone then go for it.

There's literally NO difference between the 5 and the 5c performance wise. More or less the EXACT same specs…
Go and buy a decent phone like the Xperia Z1 or the Galaxy 4.
Trust me, iPhones are over priced pieces of ***!

The only difference between the iPhone 5 and 5C is that the 5C's casing is made of plastic. They are exactly the same internally so there's no compelling reason to upgrade to 5C except for the colour choices. If your current iPhone still works, even if it is slightly beat up, I would suggest keeping it until next year, or if you can afford it, buy the 5S if you really want.

5C has a better battery and a little better hardware. If I were you, I would stick with 5 until your contract is up, then go to 5S and trade in the 5, it would be like a free upgrade as the new contract would be $199 and the 5 trade in would cover it. (They also give credit back if your trade in is more then the cost).

No.

The whole point of owning an Apple device is to take advantage of the long term support. Yes, if it was a throwaway Samdung… Buy a new model every year.

That depends upon you.

Ask yourself whether you think it's worth paying a lot more for a colour change, a slightly higher specification camera (which will not magically make your photos better) and a slightly tweaked battery.

As your present phone is a bit battered you'll find that any trade-in offer is very low and if you sell it privately you'll get far less than if you'd kept it in a protective case. A plastic iPhone is also likely to show wear far more easily, even with the optional silicone skin, so your shiny new toy might not stay that way for long.

Your money, your choice.

Didn't the 5 phone just come out a year ago? You want to get rid of a working phone so you can buy a newer one at full price? Sounds dumb to me, but then again I don't know what "little beat up" means. Still for hundreds of dollars, I'd want to know what it meant. Also, if your current iPhone is really damaged after only about a year, why would you spend hundreds of dollars… On another one?

"was wondering if there's any point in upgrading to it"

It's not upgrading. When you have something and you spend money to get another one, it's called buying-a-new-one.

The 5c is as scaled back 5s with less features. They did that to capture the market of people that don't want the high costs of iPhones and to get attention they made different colors for younger people to get excited about.

iPhones are way over priced for what they are and have way more restrictions then androids but if your hooked on iPhones either keep what you have if it still works or get the 5s both have the same ios if you upgrade yours. There's not a lot of difference unless you count the color of the case.

  • Will upgrading from iOS 5 to iOS 6 delete ANY data? I want to upgrade my iPhone 4 from iOS 5 to iOS 6 DIRECTLY FROM THE iPHONE using the software update option in Settings >> General. Will doing this delete ANY contacts, emails, apps, notes and calendar reminders? I'm MOST concerned about CONTACTS. I have more than 1000 of Contacts.
  • Why won't iTunes transfer any song or any file to any of my devices? I have unistalled and reinstalled iTunes multiple times. When I go to to transfer a song to iphone, ipad, ipod it just freezes up and doesn't do anything. I'm running the newest version of the program. What do I need to do? Just want to fix it. Thanks. I have waited on the program to transfer just to see if it is slow or what and it took 30 mins and nothing. I can't download software updates also.
  • Is there much point in buying an iPhone if I have an iPad? I'm getting an upgrade on my mobile contract soon and I've wanted to get an iPhone, but now I have an iPad. It seems that the iPhone and iPad are quite similar so I was just wondering if there's much point in getting the iPhone as I don't want to waste money, really. Also if the BlackBerry Z10 would be any good, but I know how annoying BlackBerrys are…
  • Is there any point of getting an iPhone 3g? Is there any point of getting an iPhone 3g now when there's and iPhone 5? I was thinking maybe older phones that have less functions work better.
