Is there any point of getting an iPhone 3g?

Is there any point of getting an iPhone 3g now when there's and iPhone 5? I was thinking maybe older phones that have less functions work better.

The iPhone 3g and 3gs are still good phones. You can't upgrade to the latest iOS, but you wouldn't be able to use the features anyway. I gave my sister-in-law my old 3gs and she's still using it. It works great if you don't need the new new features.

Not the 3G but the 3GS is ok. I have one and it works ok but not so much on the new ios.don't pay too much for it though!

It depends on what you are going to do with it! The 3G is a good basic iphone, does everything the iphone 5 can do except Siri, 3D maps etc. The only real differences are that it doesn't have the high quality screen compared to the 4/4s and 5, and it has a slower processor, less ram etc. If you are just going to call, text and play apps then it is well worth the cheap price, although the iPhone 4 is slightly more it is a much nicer phone and has a much better camera and screen! My advise would be the 4 or the 4s

I don't know what makes you think older phones would be better, but an older phone is rarely better than a current one. In the case of the iPhone 3G it is no longer supported by Apple. That means it will no longer receive OS updates or be serviced, however it will still work.

Here's what you loose compared to the iphones 5:
-iOS6 and any apps that require it.
-Siri
-Better cameras
-4G LTE
-Retina display
-Warrenty service by Apple
-Much faster performance and better graphics (it has a MUCH better CPU and GPU).
-The choice of carrier. The iPhone 3G only works on AT&T.

So you decide if it's worth loosing those features, but get rid of that notion that an older phone would work better - it's just not true. Also bare in mind that the iPhone 4 can be had for $99, and is a LOT better than the 3G and gives you a choice of networks.

Get i phone 4, has 2 cameras, 720HD and facetime i phone 3g is not so good, quality SD, you can only take photos aswell
