Is this iphone unlocked or not IMEI?
I recently bought an iphone 4s from a guy with box+charger.
i checked the IMEI on box and iphone matches, and the guy said its only locked to "Telstra" network but you can unlock it in any phone shop, i asked him if it was not under any contract or stolen, he said its ok to use.
When i got home i inserted "Vodafone" sim and its working fine, but i put the IMEI number on website and it tells me that this iphone is unlocked and it also tells me that it is under contract.
( i called the guy and said are you sure you are not going to report it as stolen or sold ) he said if it was under contract you wouldnt have been able to put any other Telstra sim.
now the phone is working fine, but since the IMEI checker says its under contract, does it mean that he is going to report it as lost and get it blocked after few days?
i'm just confused, either to trust the guy or the IMEI
You have just been lied TWO? TOO?
It is under contract and that means if he defaults on the remaining instalments then Telstra WILL block the phone as a first step to recover payment
There are those who report it lost but I assume you have a receipt anyways having the box with IMEI helps
It is illegal and and benefits gained by INSURANCE FRAUD is offset by fine court costs criminal record etc.
The thing is "Sword of Damocles"
YOU MAY HAVE POSSESSION, AND LEGALLY OWN IT, but this is subject to All remaining instalment being paid… So lie number One
So lie number Two
In this instance it may be a good thing / bad thing
The bad thing is that the IP4S is 2 years old already, so the contract may be expiring if he got the phone in October 2011 when first released so you could or have over paid based on his advert.
If the contract has expired Telstra have no "claim" over it and the phone is 100% yours (or is within months, defaults at the end of a contract are rare as easier to complete than to run up big bills)
he said if it was under contract you wouldn't have been able to put any other Telstra sim.
With fingers crossed
I write this From a City in the UK we have this http://www.checkmend.com/uk/pdf/checkmendReport.pdf
If yours is the same TRUST I.ME, I!
Phones not under contract have a premium price, and LACK all the associated headaches
eg the Blackberry RED limited edition none are and none will be under contract.
- Will an unlocked iphone 4S work for tmobile if it isn't factory unlocked? I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.
- What does it mean when your IMEI is unlocked on iphone 4s? My dad found an iphone 4s and it was disconnected (no service).so he restarted it with itunes.today we checked the IMEI # online. It said it was unblocked. What does this mean? Btw it is from at&t But does this mean that i can go to like tmobile or something and connect it there? Or do i still have to get it factory unlocked? Tmobile costs too much for a monthly pay. Are there any other ones that will connect an at&t phone with about 50 dollars / month
- Is it possible to UNBLOCK an iphone or not because the imei? I bought a iphone a few weeks ago and the person didn't tell me its blocked so i'm fuming. Is there any way of unblocking it? Or anyone no where i can get it unblocked? In the uk please
