Is this risky as a seller on PayPal?
A buyer from another country is interested in buying my iPhone. Funny thing is that He paid through PayPal as gift. On top of that he paid with a different email which had a different name compared to the one we were communicating. His reason for the different email name is that his colleague is paying for him. And the reason for sending it as a gift is because he's incidentally saving my "PayPal fees"…
I feel that the payment has been made through a stolen credit card and therefore the owner can file a complaint against his bank and I'll lose the money.
I'm thinking of sending a fake box and providing him with a tracking number. Then I'll know whether he is a serious buyer or not.
What do you guys advise me? I've read a report that Lithuania has lots of fraudsters. But he could be a potential buyer?
Should I refund him and leave this? What's your say?
My rule of thumb is if you're suspicious, don't do it. There will always be another buyer, but once you lose your iPhone to a fraudster, it's gone for good.
Best not to close the deal this way, report the buyer to paypal he knows it isn't allowed and as you say it sounds dodgy. Explain to paypal why you are cancelling the order. They will likely cancel any charges incurred
100% scam. Refund the money.
- Using stolen Iphone.is it risky? Can you be traced? I hope to hear some technical explanations, not the moral lectures… there are just so many iphones being sold on the street without boxes, just the phone and the charger and the price is really so tempting… I'm really curios about the risks…
- My Iphone 5c screen cracked, can I fix it myself? Or too risky? Is it too risky to fix my own Iphone 5c screen? I was just wondering if I could just pay 15 bucks for a new screen on Amazon/Ebay and fix it myself instead of paying 150 bucks for someone else to do it correctly (and not even you never know if they do it correctly) or is it difficult to, and way too risky?
- Is this paypal seller lying to me? Recently, I was scammed into paying for someone's item for them, thinking i was buying an iphone 6. I spoke to the seller and they agreed that they would send the money back when i close the dispute. The amount was £170.10 but they claimed that only 136 pounds was deposited back into their account and that is what they sent me. Were they lying to me as I'm trying to think of what to do next.
- Is it safe to buy a iPhone from a third-party seller on amazon? I want to buy a new iPhone on amazon from a third-party seller, but i'm a little anxious about. Should i buy it?
