It it necessary to back up your iPhone after an update?
My iphone has been under iOS 4 for a long time and I finally plugged it into my computer to update it to. It's latest version. After the update, it started backing up my iphone and its been over three hours and hardly anything has been backed up. I was just wondering if it was completely necessary to back up your iPhone after an update. I don't want any of my pictures or texts deleted, but I don't want to spend hours waiting for this to back up, at least until I can delete some old apps to speed up the process.
No, it's not necessary. However, it is recommended to back it up BEFORE an update just incase something goes wrong.
It shouldn't be taking three hours anyway, so just cancel it.
