ITunes refuses to recognize my mobile device while upgrading software. Why?

I've been putting off updating my iPhone to the new IOS 7 software because a lot of my friends didn't like it and I didn't find it necessary to switch. However, I've noticed some of my apps haven't been functioning properly and I've missed on some text messages. So, I caved and went to update today. I did not have enough storage on my phone, so I plugged it into my Dell Windows 7 laptop to connect and start the update. It extracted my software, but my laptop wasn't fully plugged in and it died when it was almost done. (my fault). I go to open iTunes and I have the USB plugged in and connected, but my iTunes will not recognize my phone. I've tried three different cords and I read up a lot about how it helps to have the "original" cord to do this kind of stuff, but I have no idea where that could be. Who knows, it could be one of the three. Anyway, I need help because I have no software on my phone so when I try to turn it on it just shows the screen of the cord needing to be connected to iTunes. I keep doing that and am getting no results which is very frustrating. I run a business from my phone and it's crucial to my success so any help would be much appreciated. I must be doing something wrong…

- I checked all updates and I have the most recent iTunes update currently

Try iPhone Recovery mode:
Disconnect your iPhone and turn it off by holding the "Sleep/Wake" button for about five seconds and then sliding the red slider. If your iPhone is already off, there's no need to turn it on and then off again. Once it's off, press and hold the "Home" button and plug your iPhone into a Mac or PC with iTunes installed. Keep holding the "Home" button until you see a dock cable pointing to the iTunes icon. IPhones running older software will display a yellow triangle and text which says "Please Connect to iTunes". Once you see this image, you can release the Home button. Open iTunes (if it's not already open) and you will be told that "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode." Click "OK" and you will be taken to the iPhone pane. Click "Restore" and you're done, it's that easy! Depending on the extent of your iPhone's ills, it may take some time to do a full restore. Once you're done, you should again have a perfectly working iPhone.
If this doesn't solve your problem, you may need to restore using DFU (Direct Firmware Upgrade) mode. To enter this mode, plug in your iPhone and turn it off. Hold down the "Home" and "Sleep/Wake" buttons for about twelve seconds. You'll briefly see the silver Apple logo and then your phone will appear to turn back off. Release the "Sleep/Wake" button but continue to hold the "Home" button until you see a message in iTunes stating that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. Choose "Restore" and you should be fixed right up!
Please reach out to us for any further clarification and we'll be happy to help.

  • Will my jailbreak on one device transfer to another device via iTunes? So I bought an iPhone 5 today and I'm afraid to sync it to my Apple ID/ iTunes because my 8GB iPod is also synced to that iTunes account and its jailbroken. I don't want my jailbroken iPod to affect my iPhone 5. Will it affect it? I don't think it will but I just want to make sure before I sync it for the first time.
  • Why can't my laptop recognize any apple device. Any solutions? I tried connecting my ipod nano and my iphone 4 to my laptop but "device was not successfully installed" keeps on popping out. I tried installing ITunes but "I tunes was not properly installed. If you wish to burn cd, please reinstall" keeps on popping up. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling but it still says that I tunes is not properly installed. so far I got 2 problems at the moment. Thanks in advance. btw. My laptop is windows 7 professional.
  • My iPhone Screen went black and not it refuses to respond to anything? I suppose I should clarify. The power button has been unresponsive, rather, broken, for about a week. Resetting it through any use of the power button is not an option. Do I need to take it in to the apple store? I've tried plugging it in to my brother's computer, as my computer is currently not available. When I plugged it into my brother's computer, it said I would need to respond on my iPhone, which is just plain cruel. Any ideas?
  • My iPhone 4s refuses to sync with my iTunes? I have a new iPhone 4s, and I restored it from a previous backup. Now, after that, I plug it into iTunes and when I click on my device tab, it shows a blank white screen with no summary or anything. It also can't access iTunes, and I have the latest version of iTunes as well. My phone refuses to sync with my account, and I've tried so many things. If anybody could help me, that'd be wonderful
