Just recently bought a phone from AT&T?
So I just bought a Galaxy S8, and this is my first phone ever. Not full price, but I got to play monthly payments obviously. But i'm curious if I could switch to an iPhone later down the road. Like what would the requirements be to do that switch from Galaxy S8 to iPhone?
You'd need to wait for your contract to end, unless you can pay retail up front for the iPhone (or you're willing to pay out the contract early and then switch under a new subsidized contract).

Well if you're on contract, you will need to wait until your contract ends first and wait until you finish paying for your phone
You will continue paying for that first phone once you go past the 7 to 14 day return period, no matter what you decide to buy later. And once you past that return date, any other phones through AT&T will be case up front, at least until the first phone has been paid off in full. Or you pay off at least half of the payments, allowing you to upgrade to a new monthly payment plan. But to be 100% certain, read your current contract to find out the terms of EIP payments. Based on what your contact states.
