Lock button in iPhone 5 not working?

So my lock button hasn't been working correctly for a month or so now. I have to try it again and again for it to lock. And taking a screen shot takes forever. I thought it would go away but it definitely hasn't and I'm kinda pissed. I don't have the latest software update on my phone. Could this relate to it at all?
And apparently I'm not on the protection plan. So I'd have to pay like $20 to see if they can even fix this for me. Pretty much just to talk to someone about it from apple. -.-
So I'm resorting to yahoo first. Anyone else with the same problem? Any fix to this?

Its not a software bug its just the build of the phone. I would just take it to someone and repair it.
