Lost iPhone, help recovering it?

My iPhone 5 was recently lost or stolen (not entirely sure) I got the "Find iPhone" app, which says it's offline. I called it with no answer every day for about 5 days, and it rang but no one picked up. Now i assume it has either died or someone has managed to wipe the memory, because it goes straight to voice mail. My dad told me that there's some way to call apple and have them notify if the specific iPhone is activated, but he refuses to help me. Does anyone know how to do this, or if it's even possible?

Not only can they track it for you, they can also track the recent calls, which they are more likely to to do than they are to track it, they usually save that for an extreme emergency, such as kidnapping. If they are found that the phone has been texting and making calls you can retrieve those numbers and find their location via internet and go all taken mode, or if that doesn't suit you, you can always try to sweet talk them in to a tracking or a force activation, and if all else fails and you know others are using you, you can report it stolen officially and have them destroy the ip address. They can track it and the account using it via latitude, but it won't exactly do much help.every time i've had a phone stolen i've either gone taken mode or just destroyed the ip address and got a new one, happy knowing if i can't use it, nobody can.

If you have have set up Find My iPhone on your device prior to it getting lost or stolen, I suggest you log into your iCloud account at: https://www.icloud.com/...cloud.com/ and enable Lost Mode there. Lost Mode will allow the finder to call the contact number displayed from the device itself. To prevent your new idevice from being stolen or lost in the future, I suggest you set up Find My iPhone/iPad/iPod in iCloud on the device and apply some free anti-theft app like iLostFinder. It will take pics of the thief or finders when she/he tries to open your device and then send the pics to your email.
