My iPhone 4 suffered heavy water damage, will it be okay?

I went in the pool with it not realizing it was in my pocket. I was in the pool for about 5-10 minutes before I realized it was in my pocket. It was on when I went in the pool but was off when I got out. I now have it sitting in a bowl of rice and I plan on leaving it in there for a week, changing the rice it's in every 24 hours. Does anyone have any insight on this, like if there's any hope of it being okay or is it done for?

Turn it off and put it in rice. If it doesn't turn on tomorrow then its a goner. I'm sorry.

This may help you, i'm not trying to take credit for that guy's answer just sharing it.

NO!
the rice trick doesn't work on iphones.
it might make it work for a few hours but the sound and screen will not function properly.
sell it for parts and buy a new one.

Put in a ziplock bag with silicon silicate for at least a week. It works 100 times better than rice. It is available at hobby or craft stores. If it does not power up, sometimes Apple will exchange your phone (if you beg) for a nominal fee.

You can try selling the parts and get a new one

Put it in rice for 24 hours and then use a dryer with the max cold temperature to not destroy your iphone pc with the hot air and if it doesn't work put them the next day i think ti will work… That way worked twice with me with my old nokia e5 and this mobile still working
first it was a bit weird to put it in rice but really it works
gd luck

If you search on Google "water damage senseiphone", yes it may work! But I doubt because it had been in the pool for too long.

  • My PC has suffered a audio crash? I was playing a video when it started getting all laggy and than the screen flashed for a moment or two. Right after all that my PC is apparently permanently mute. I examined the speakers they are connected right and play just fine on my iPhone. Would rebooting my computer remedy the problem? I don't mind doing that as long I back up every thing important.
  • Is my iPhone gonna be okay now after the water? Ok so march 15th about 75 days ago I dropped my brand new iPhone 4 in a pond. I fell in and my phone was in my pocket. I did the rice and had a blow dryer up to it. The head phone has the red dot as well as the bottom and apple said it was waster damaged. But my phone still works perfect 75 days later. The only thing wrong with it is when in brightness settings if you put it all the way down the screen goes black. Will it be okay now?
  • Iphone water indicators not pink, still possible water damage? Hypothetically, if you got your iphone 4s wet, but the water indicators are not triggered at all, is it still possible the phone has water damage on the inside that apple would find if they took it apart?
  • Iphone submerged in water, logic board has water damage? My phone was under water for 10 sec. Atleast and in my wet pocket for about 2 minutes. Led wouldnt turn off and power / lock button didn't work… Put it in rice and two days later i charge it apple logo pops up then writing pops up above the apple logo. Will the guy taking my phone to clean it out and try to fix it need my passcode? And will my contacts, apps, photos, music, internet history still be on my phone? Like when he fixes it turns and on and stuff?
