My iPhone 4S still connects to internet without data plan?
Less than a month ago I recently changed my iPhone 4S from a talk/text/data plan with my phone company to just a talk/text plan. According to their records, my data ended the first week of January, and after two extra visits, including one where they tinkered with the phone, they say I'm currently not hooked to their 3G data and I'm not paying for data. BUT my 4S is still connecting to an internet signal when outside the range of my Wi-Fi, any recognized Wi-Fi, or a free open Wi-Fi. Heck, I've been in the middle of nowhere, or another city, and not only am I able to connect but IIm able to download podcasts and stream faraway radio stations. Anyone else ever experience this or know what is happening? I've checked repeatedly with the phone company and even had them add a note in my file saying that I've checked with them and that they say it's not from them and that I don't have to pay anything outside talk/text.
I know Apple is infamous for charging people to use data when it isn't included in their plan so I would be very careful
- Wi-Fi connects but internet doesn't work? I'm staying at a hotel this week. There's free Wi-Fi. My friend's phone and laptop are connected and working, as are my sister's. However, both my iPhone and my iPod are "connected" to the network, but the internet doesn't actually work. It's very stressful. What do I do.
- Why does when the iphone 4 connects to the internet, the Wi-Fi lags? Whenever my sisters iphone connects to the internet and i play a online game league of legends for example, i get a very high ping and i start to disconnect and reconnect. Could you help me fix this. Oh btw, my sister won't get off and shut her iphone down.
- My deactivated iphone 4 still connects to 3G? My iphone 4 is deactivated but it still connects to 3G and I can use internet and apps. Calling someone else doesn't work though. Is this normal? I thought only Wi-fi still works after deactivation. If it continues to connect to 3G, will I get charged for it? So confused.
- Is there such thing as an iPhone data cable that JUST connects the device and does not charge it? I have an iPhone 5 and the best way to connect it to my car stereo is USB in. The USB gives the best sound but I don't want to ruin my battery by charging and unplugging all the time. So basically IIm looking for a data cable the transfers data, but will NOT change my phone.
