My iPhone 5S isn't recognizing cellular data turned on, when it is in fact turned on

I use Wi-Fi mostly but of course you can't always connect to wi-fi. I have my cellular data turned on even when I have wi-fi on as well, however I've noticed that for the past week or so, whenever I lose wi-fi connection and try to pull up my mail or weather app, I get a pop message that says data can't be displayed. Turn on cellular data… But my cellular data is on! How can I fix this? I've tried turning the data off and back on a few times. Any suggestions?

Also -- when sending messages via iMessage, will they still send/receive if I'm not connected to wi-fi and my phone isn't recognizing cellular data being turned on?

Contact your carrier.

If cellular data is turned on, and its not working, you either have limited data and have used it all, or there's an issue with your account or the cell tower you are connecting to. Time to call your carrier. Turning the phone off, and reseating the SIM card might help. If you do remove the SIM card, take a clean pencil eraser, and lightly rub it on the contact face of the cardto remove any tarnish that has built up, before putting it back into the phone.

  • Will i be charged for texts on iPhone even though i turned off cellular data and enable 3G? I have turned off my cellular data and 3G believing that everything of texts web browsing etc. Is all based on Wi-Fi. I know imessage won't charge me even though i'm on Wi-Fi. However if i were to text someone who does not have an iphone and it isn't imessage will i still be charged? Because sending messages to them works with my cellular data and 3g off but will i be charged or even charged more since it is off?

  • Why isn't iTunes recognizing my iPhone? I have an iPhone 3g and iTunes 10.6.3. I want to upload music from my iTunes library to my phone, but when I plug my phone in, it doesn't show up on iTunes. It was working fine the day before yesterday, but now it's just driving me insane. Yes, i've tried unplugging it and reconnecting it, and closing iTunes and opening it again. Didn't work.
  • Why isn't iTunes (computer) recognizing my iPhone? I'm trying to load music from my computer onto my iPhone 6. When I try, iTunes won't recognize my device. It's not listed on the upper righthand corner. My phone asks if I trust the computer. I say yes. Then I get a message that itunes is getting an invalid response from my device. I never had this problem before.
