My iPhone 6 was ran over, what's the chances it wasn't just the screen that broke?
It got ran over, and upon inspection, the glass was shattered and popped off the frame. But nothing else seemed broken, (I didn't look at the battery yet.)

I would probably say that the components in the phone would have been damaged as well.
