My iPhone's SIM not recognized after updating to the latest iOS?

I have an iPhone and when I bought it (about a year ago) the phone was unlocked, and it was also jailbroken. I got a monthly plan from a wireless company and they gave me a new SIM to use the phone. Today I went and updated my iOS from iTunes and after updating when the phone restarted and loaded up again… After that there was the last option which activate's your iPhone from your SIM. My SIM was not recognized by my phone nor iTunes, and on the top left corner where the bars and the carrier name comes up it says "No Service". I don't know what to do I need help because I have all of my contacts on this phone and I use my phone for work a lot. Please help As soon as possible.

I also restored my phone and I have the backup with me on iTunes. But I can't back it up because my SIM is not recognized.

To the best of my knowledge, you must syncoronize your advanced phone by going to its settings?! Also a trustable authorized apple workshop is another suggestion to help! Good luck. I have a question that your carrier works with gsm or cdma?!
