My laptop will not detect my iPhone?

When I connect my iPhone 4s to my laptop (updated to Windows 8.1), I wear the bleeping noise to tell me that it has been plugged in. However, my phone does not light up, or show that it is charging, and if I look at the devices on my laptop, the iPhone does not appear. The iPhone also does not appear in iTunes. I use the same usb for my iPad 2, which also does not show up in iTunes, but the "tap to decide what happens" pop up appears in the corner upon plugging it in. This option is what I want with my iPhone, as I want to transfer a video on it to my laptop (the video is too long to email).

Try using a different cable. If trying another cable doesn't work, then check the top right of your iPhone when it's plugged into your computer. Next to the battery there should be a symbol to indicate that your iPhone is charging. If it's not there when your iPhone is plugged in, then that is either a problem with your phone or computer. My computer recognizes it as an iPad and an iPhone but it won't show up in iTunes. I have uninstalled everything related to iTunes and Apple and re-installed iTunes and that did not help at all.   • Why can't my PC detect my iPhone? My iPhone can't get detected with iTunes or anything? I have AppleMobileDevice and iPodServuce running but my iPhone 4 still doesn't get detected in Windows 7. I tried everything listed in Apple website. The cable works because the iPhone gets detected on my Mac and my other laptop.
  • Redsn0w can't detect iPhone? Trying to jailbreak my iPhone 4 (ios 6.0.1) and redsn0w just can't detect my phone what so ever. I've tried it in DFU mode (iTunes detected that it was in recovery mode but still nothing from redsn0w) and not in DFU mode and it still won't pick anything up.   • My iPhone won't detect home Wi-Fi? My iphone only detects my home Wi-Fi when its right next to the router! If i move 5m away or into another room, BAM. Goes back to 3G. This is really annoying. I have tried to forget the network and reset all network settings. They don't solve the problem. Any suggestions or information would help greatly.
