My lock button on my iphone is stiff suddenly?

I have an iphone 5 that i got not too long ago and suddenly the top lock button has got really stiff when pressing it down and doesn't click anymore.

I spilt a bit of tea on the side of my phone the night that it started to mess up so i'm thinking it may be that? Water damage?

How can i fix it because i've used a needle to try and gather any dirt from around it but there doesn't seem to be any anymore.

Will apple fix it for free or is there something i can do?

If it is under contract they will fix it for free but they will charge money if it isn't under contract.

I push it down so hard that my fingers turn red. It's covered by apples warranty and they're sending me a box to return the iphone. Will they replace it or repair it?

  • My iPhone 5 home button is stiff It feels like there's grit in it, it basically clicks down when I press it and if I press it in succession it will go back to normal. Until obviously I leave it for about 10 seconds and it we go black to clicking. Any help?
