My mac won't open Visualboy advance?

I have downloaded and installed visual boy advance for my mac. But when I go to open it, it shows me folders, and I have to click on the icon again. Then it shows this error message: Unknown file type /Applications/VisualBoyAdvance.exe.app. I don't know what this means or what to do about it. All I want to do is play pokemon on my macbook so that I can use cheats and put it back onto my iPhone. I already have GBA4IOS installed on my iPhone. Can anyone help me?

Try downloading Playonmac this worked for me, it's because visualboyadvance is set up to work on windows not mac. Sucks I know!

Cookie hunter is right. You need a different gba emulator to use that's for mac.
