My USB ports are not working, how do I fix it?

I have A Dell laptop, the newer ones, and I just purchased and iPhone and I tried plugging it in and my laptop won't pick up the device. There's no message that says the device is unreadable it just doesn't pick it up. I have a webcam that doesn't pick up anymore either. I don't know what I did or what to do. So if someone could please help, that'd be great

First of all we need to check for any yellow bangs in device manager under universal serial bus controllers & imaging devices.
Follow the steps given below

1. Right click on My Computer
2. Select Manage
3. Click on device manager
4. On the right side please locate imaging devices and Universal Serial Bus Controllers
5. Expand the options and check for any red or yellow bangs.

If you are getting Imaging devices in device manager then webcam issue can be fixed by installing it's latest driver and softwares.

Simultaneously, Uninstall USB root hubs from Universal Serial Bus Controllers and restart the system, it should resolve most issues.

Alternatively, Boot in the safe mode by tapping F8 on startup and check USB ports by plugging any usb device.
If USB port work then it is an software and you can go ahead and reinstall OS.
