Nike and iPhone shoes/sensor?

I heard about getting a certain pair of Nike shoes and you can sync them with your iPhone or something.

Well I want to look into this, I have an iPhone 4S if that matters.

But ABOUT how much do these shoes cost? Does the sensor thing come with it or bought separately? If so, how much is the sensor? Where can I buy these shoes and/or sensor?

What you are talking about is the Nike + kit.
If you have an old iPod Nano you need the sensor and the receiver. They sell them together for about $30. If you have a brand new nano or a iPod touch or a iphone (the receiver is built in ) you just need the sensor which goes for about $20.

Nike shoes that have a + sign after the name have a space under the insole to put the sensor in. These are normally priced shoes and a lot of nike running shoes are now Nike+ shoes.

you can use other shoes and attach the sensor to the shoes via a pouch on the laces. There are a lot of companies that makes a pouch for less than $20 or you can make your own.

All of this stuff is available at nike's web site. Or you can just go to running store and check out the shoes. You can buy the sensor at nike's web site, apple's web site or most running stores.

And don't worry too much about getting the Nike+ shoes. The pouch works just fine with whatever shoes you buy.

  • Why won't my Nike + shoes calibrate to my iPhone 4s? Do I need a receiver or something? It told me to walk around to activate the sensor but i walked around for a good 15 minutes and it didn't calibrate… Am i doing something wrong or is there another gadget i need?
  • Nike iD women's customisable shoes, size mix up when add to cart? Hi so I just designed my Nike shoes, Nike dunk high iD, and I put in my size (uk) and then added to cart and it changed to 3 sizes down? Is it changed from American or European sizes to British or vise versa? Do I trust what it says in the cart or do I trust what size I picked? Is there some way of working this out? I've tried on an iPhone and Samsung tablet but iPhone goes up in size tablet goes down, I don't get it, what do I do? Had anyone else had this?
  • Is there any reason to get the Nike + sensor if I have an iPhone? I recently purchased a pair of Nike running shoes that have a spot for the Nike + sensor and I've always just used the Nike running app on my iPhone when I run so is there anything the sensor could do that the app couldn't? I figured probably better tracking of elevation (I run in a really hilly area), but other than that I wasn't sure if it was worth looking into.
  • Is the sensor built into the nike free run+ 3's? It's so I can connect my new runners to my iphone. Does it come built into the shoe or do I have to buy the sensor separately?
