Otterbox or Speck case for my iPhone 4?

I'm getting an iPhone 4 soon and I want to keep it protected. I know Otterboxes are amazing, but the Speck cases look alot better. Which should I get? Also, I'm a guy and have only seen chicks with Candyshell cases, but I've seen some pretty masculine ones… Thanks for your input!

Otterbox

Speck cases are cool, i have one that i got from ebay for cheap, otterboxes make your phone look big and ugly. I understand that you want a protective case and all but think about how long youre going to have that iphone. I would go for a silicone case because it absorbs the vibrations and prevents your phone from cracking.

Definitely the otterbox!

Speck Candy shell cases are by no means girly except for the obvious colors that are pointed towards women like pink, teal, and purple. The candy shell does offer great protection but nowhere near as good as an Otterbox, CandyShell cases do not come with a screen protector unlike the OtterBox series that do come with a screen protector. If you want style and protection and want to buy a higher quality screen protector go for the candy shell they're great but I will note that the rubber around the front of the candy shell begins to peel after about six months. OtterBox cases are rugged, include a screen protector, and provide some of the best overall protection but you trade that for thickness.

  • Would you get the Otterbox Defender or the Speck Candy Shell? I'm getting the 4s soon and I can't decide which of these two cases to get. Perks of the Otterbox is that it has a built in screen protector, it will protect your iPhone no matter what. But I don't like how it's so bulky. Perks of the Candy Shell is that its way slimmer than the Otterbox, and it's shock absorbent. But I'm not sure if it'll protect the phone just as good as an Otterbox.
