Voltage regulator VS voltage divider?

I want to make a few of those altoids oh sh*t USB chargers. Instead of using the 5V regulators like everyone else does, can't I just create a voltage divider with two resistors?

Why though? As long as my Iphone is seeing 5V it shouldn't matter, no? Or is the regulator really some kind of current regular aging device too? Dun think so.

And what are the odds of me destroying my cell phone? You think there's circuitry protection of I screw up the polarity?

Won't allow battery percentage to be shown on my iPhone 5?

So when i go into settings>usage> and click the battery percentage bar, it turns from grey to green. But the battery percentage doesn't show and when i exit settings, go back to settings>usage, the battery bar is grey again! Anyone know what's going on or what i can do?

Glitch (supernatural) in real life? Explain?

So i'm using an iphone 3 (long story)
and i had this charger (**with a broken/torn plug in piece) and i was able to charge my phone with this charger. I only have one of these chargers in the house. I showered and when i came out the charger was completely brand new (with no broken parts), however i can't charge my phone with it. This makes no sense, and i swear i doubt its a different charger.

do you believe glitches in the world?
do you remember the Barenstein bears
kids book series? Wasn't it called
Barenstein bears? Thats what we all remember but look it up.

My question is if i pay off the $200 remaining on the phone am i then able to leave to say T-mobile or AT&T with no leaving charge or anything like that? Because after paying the $200 i will then own my iPhone 6.

Is it in any way possible to charge my iPhone 4 without its charger?

I have a bunch of other chargers but they're for Android devices. I'm desperate for help! I saw a video on youtube that showed you can do it with a fork and spoon but it looks pretty fake. I really don't know what to do. I'm about to have the whole week off of school with a dead phone. Please help!

Added (1). It wasn't a fork and spoon it was a fork and quarter. Sorry…
