Why is this iPhone not charging?
Got a customer phone (a friend) and the complaint was first that the screen was cracked. When I went to pick it up the customer said that now it doesn't turn on. I figured it was because of the broken screen. I didn't have the screen in stock so I gave them a loner phone and went on to order a new screen.
At this time I put the phone through a couple charge cycles and then I started hearing an alert noise. When I put the phone on silent the noise stops and it turns to vibrate. I figured there was an alert on the screen but since the screen isn't working I can't see what It is. During this time the iPhone was getting hot. Then I plugged it in a computer and iTunes recognized it and prompted for a password. So I know it's getting power and works with a computer so I ruled out the logic board.
The screen will be here any day now and so I went to charge the phone up again and now it's not doing anything. I've tried two different chargers and it does nothing. I plugged it in the computer and nothing.
One more thing I did was clean out the charging port and it still does the same thing. My best guess is that something is wrong with the battery. But I thought I would ask around before buying a new battery.
What do you think it is? Is there a common fix?
