I'm yet to receive my college ID, so recently I had a first night out with two friends who have been in Canada longer and they have their IDs. I honestly had no idea that they ask for it coz in my country as long as you look older than 17 (legal age is 18 where I come from), then you should be alright. I luckily had copies of my ID on my iPhone scanner, so after being denied service at the first bar we visited (though they were super nice and professional in escorting is out and told that we would be welcome back as long as I had an ID) the second bar accepted me even though I showed it through the phone
