My iphone turns on but won't charge?

Today I went to change my iphone 5 and it did not charge. I thought my charger was just broken, so plugged it into my laptop, and still nothing. There arent even any kinks in it. I turned my off off to save battery and later tried fiddling with the chords again and when i plugged it into a different adapter, my phone turned but once it reached the homescreen there was no sign of it charging. I've tried cleaning out the ports and holes, but still nothing. I just think its weird that it still turns my phone on when i plug it in.
Do you guys think if I let it die, it will charge my phone? So confused.

LifeProof or Otterbox for iPhone 5?

I currently have an Otterbox Defender for my iPhone 5 and have had it since last December. There's nothing wrong with it, aside from the fact that it causes air bubbles on my screen, but I'm just tired of it and want something different. I was going to purchase another one in a differenct color, but then I seen that Otterbox now makes a waterproof case (ArmorSeries).It costs more than LifeProof, $99, and looks even more bulky than the Defender. Has anyone tried this yet? I don't plan on submerging my phone in water, but I would prefer a waterproof case in case it were to get water on it. I accidentally dropped my iPhone 4 into a bucket of water last year (thankfully on the same day my iPhone 5 came in the mail). I like how the LifeProof case looks, but with it being thin I wonder about how protective it would be against falls. If you have either of these cases could you please comments with the pros and cons and which one you think is the better case?

What to say to someone who hates iOS and iPhones?

I use an android phone but I also have an iPod touch. I like both ios and android they are both great and both have their pros and cons. I know this guy who HATES iOS and I don't understand. The hate gets worse and worse. He says things like "ios just copied android, ios 7 is so ugly, ios doesn't have customizable wallpaper so who would ever buy a phone like that, ios doesn't let you move icons wherever you want, people only by it cause they see their friends with it" and so on. I even tried telling him that people may buy ios because they may actually like it and would want to use that OS. Then he says "no they just see their friends with it, no one would ever want a phone you can't even customize." He even says blackberry is better than it but i don't think he's even used a blackberry (he's a huge android fan btw). I don't know what to say to him and I don't want to be rude either.

Can't receive calls or texts from certain numbers on iphone5?

I can't receive texts or calls from at least 2 AT&T phones and at least one sprint phone… I've reset the settings, deleted threads, called my carrier (tmobile) to make sure there are no blocks in place. It's weird because I can't even receive texts from tmobile or my bank! My bill is paid and I do get messages from other numbers. Can anyone help?
