Pica in an adult dog
My 6 year old sharpei has developed a taste for non food items! She's always eaten paper, tissues, plastic anything, even has eaten cloth and a teatowel, but This year things have escalated to the point where I think she needs to go to the vet before she eats something that needs surgical removal. In the past few months she ate the plug off the iron chord, numerous head phones, even pooped an iPhone 5 headphone out whole, seeks out my elastic hair bands and eats those, and ate the chords off 2 phone chargers. It's gone back to like having a puppy that needs constant supervision, and everything away in drawers as she will get up on counters, desks etc to seek out items. She has skin allergies and is bullied by my other dog, so she is insecure and shy by nature. I don't believe it's attention seeking but maybe something to occupy her mind with? Or worse an underlying medical condition making her feel sick? I'm asking because I think there's a good chance the vet will just brush off this behaviour and I'm worried I won't get any answers. I need to stop this as it's getting worse and I can't be here to supervise her 24/7. In fact she's learnt to only eat things when we're not looking, and will swallow items to prevent us taking them off her. So a small thing has become a huge issue! Hopefully someone can help!
Unless it is a medical problem, which I doubt that's the case, I think the only thing you can do is put everything in drawers or cabinets just as if she were a puppy again. You do have to keep her safe, and yes, an intestinal blockage is in your future if you don't get this sorted out. Part of the problem could be because she's bored, and bored dogs are destructive and can chew/get into just about anything and everything. It *might* help if she gets more exercise, but for her safety, I'd crate her when she can't be under direct supervision, and I would NOT put a blanket or crate pad in that crate either. She may chew that up and swallow it. One of my past Dobermans was like this (about 20 years ago) and sure enough she ended up with TWO intestinal blockages. The first one was mis-diagnosed, so she didn't end up having surgery till nearly a week later, and by then, Peritonitis had also set in. She spend 4 days at the Vet, had a 50/50 chance of recovering, and the next 6 weeks after the surgery were hell for me. Not fun at all. So again, puppy proof your house, keep things put away, and crate her when you can't keep an eye on her.
- Would you play adult truth or dare? Do you think that would be a sexy/fun thing to do with a partner? How would you feel about hearing about your partners past in truth questions? I was going through some questions on an iphone app, and some of them were things like "rate your past sexual partners from 1-10" and "how many one night stands have you had" Would you be comfortable with this? Just curious.
- Where can I find adult iphone apps? I was looking for adult iphone apps at all the obvious places - the app store, Google play, and there's nothing. Does anyone know where I can find them?
- Visited an adult website while I was on work's Wi-Fi? I watched an adult video on my iphone outside from work. I did not close it and headed off to the office. When I got to the office, my phone automatically connects to the works Wi-Fi which was password protected. So then I opened up the internet and realized that the adult site was still on the phone. This was 3 months ago and it actually happened on 2 occasions. Should I still be worried knowing that it was a while ago?
- Virus on iPhone for browsing adult websites? A message popped up on my iPhone 5c yesterday saying my phone has picked up a virus for browsing "adult websites" What should I do?!
